Fashion Psychology a reading list

Hot off completion of the MSc I discovered a module about Fashion Psychology, taught online (I was used to that now), by fashion icon Caryn Franklin. Who had also done a Psychology masters later in life. I signed up immediately paid my money and waited for it to start.

It was cancelled. Not enough sign ups. I know, once is ok, twice is coincidence if it happens a third time, I’ll investigate whether it’s down to me.

With so much hope invested in it and my existing interest around sustainable development goals, fast fashion, and the psychology of consumerism I decided I’d make my own reading list. Most of this can be accessed without an HE library.

The course is back on. Starts this Feb (keep everything crossed). In the meantime, I thought I’d share my latest reading.

1.       The Psychology of Fashion Carolyn Mair

2.       Consumed Aja Barber

3.       Big Dress Energy Shakaila Forbes-Bell

4.       Status and Culture W. David Marx

5.       Psychopolitics of Fashion

6.       Dopamine Dressing Julia Ries

7.       A conversation with Otto Von Busch

8.      The Fashion Fantasy Otto Von Busch

9.      State of Fashion 2023 McKinsey & Co.

Get in touch if you read any of these and fancy a chat about them, it can be quite lonely doing serious reading on your own.
