Jill of all trades Master of Psychology
In 2019 I left full time employment to start an MA in Global Communications. Having graduated from Nottingham Trent University back in the olden times before Google was invented and when essays were written in pen by hand, I had a recurring itch that needed to be scratched.
2020 was to be the year I got my MA. The world had other plans. My course was cancelled at the last minute. Leaving me with no job, no MA and no idea what to do. This was soon decided for me by the Pandemic.
Contemplating what I missed the most during the first lockdown led me to Psychology. What was it about social interaction and human connection that I was craving? Were others feeling the same? Why?
October 2020 saw me enrol on a Psychology MSc. A bit of a shock to those that know me well as this arts professional hadn’t done any science since the late 80s.
I studied from what became known as “the cubby hole” a space at the top of our stairs with a makeshift desk. All online, during two further lockdowns and 3 months of home schooling. Not quite the experience I had hoped for.
Jan 2022 saw me hand in my dissertation and I walked onto campus for the first time in Nov 2022 to pick up my gown for my graduation and got to doff my cap. I feel I’ve earned all the letters I now have after my name.
Jan 2023 sees me ready to apply everything I’ve learnt back in the word of work. I’m open to freelance projects of all shapes and sizes, take a look at some of the things I’ve done previously and if you think we’d be a good fit send me an email.
